Restaurant chain Culver’s announces Julie Fussner as CEO

American restaurant chain Culver’s has announced its fifth CEO, Julie Fussner, who becomes the first woman in the role.

Fussner will lead the company’s network of more than 670 owner operators and 45,000 team members, who are known for serving ButterBurgers and Fresh Frozen Custard across 26 US states, as reported by QSR.

Fussner takes over from Enrique “Rick” Silva, who retired in February 2025.

Culver’s co-founder Craig Culver stated: “After a thorough and competitive search, Julie emerged as the clear choice to lead our organisation into the next chapter.

“Professionally, Julie brings visionary thinking, business expertise and an authentic leadership style. Just as valuable, though, is how effortlessly Julie builds Culver’s culture. She innately understands and shares the values that define us: Midwest hospitality and an appreciation for people.”

Since joining Culver’s as marketing vice-president in 2017, Fussner has enhanced the brand’s engagement with customers nationwide. She was subsequently appointed as the brand’s inaugural chief marketing officer.

Fussner stated: “I’m honoured to have earned the opportunity to guide the teams across this beloved brand to continued long-term success by delivering on our mission to genuinely care, so every guest who chooses Culver’s leaves happy.”

In 2024, Culver’s achieved sales of $3.8bn, registering growth of 15.5% from the previous year, as reported by Nation’s Restaurant News.

The number of outlets also saw a 6% upward trend.

Since 2020, the company has seen its sales increase by 113%, and its number of locations has expanded by more than 36%.

Average sales per Culver’s outlet reached $3.8m in 2024, surpassing the average for the burger segment, which stood at $2.25m.
