With the New England Patriots signing eight of their 11 rookie draft picks, the last lingering contracts belong to rookie first-round draft pick Will Campbell, second-round pick TreVeyon Henderson and fourth-round pick Craig Woodson.
We’re going to shift the focus predominantly to Campbell since he was the fourth overall pick of the 2025 NFL draft, and the reasons for the delay in his finalized deal could likely be attributed to both Henderson and Woodson as well.
Firstly, take a deep breath, Patriots fans. This is a typical process, and there is no need to press the panic button. There is likely back-and-forth dialogue between the players and their agents working to solidify a contract that works for both sides.
Campbell’s contract could be even more complicated as a first-round draft pick. There could be multiple reasons in the language for the delay in his signing, but it is something the two sides will eventually work through and put pen to paper.
Like Henderson and Woodson, Campbell has been with the team participating in offseason practices. He is expected to play a significant role as the franchise’s top left tackle moving forward. It’s a vital position that could help make or break quarterback Drake Maye’s second NFL season.
As for Henderson and Woodson, the same is likely true about the two sides working to agree on some of the language in the proposed contracts. They will continue to work toward a happy medium, and the deals will officially get done.
